Favourite campaign of 2021 and why?

I am always drawn to anything that IKEA puts out – I think they get really creative with how they continue to retell their story in unique and culturally relevant ways. My favourite has been the campaign around celebrating sleep and using their items to look like eye cream – a really clever use of their own products.

Who is your communicator of the year?

For this I would have to say Ellie Thompson, Harvard’s CEO. As an agency we have been through a tremendous amount of change (and let’s not forget about Covid). Ellie has guided us all through this time, and what I admire is how she has done this with so much grace and compassion. I am excited for where Harvard is going next.

Person of the year?

My brother is definitely the answer to this. As my grandad would say, he doesn’t have the most “conventional job” but as a personal trainer, he has built everything he has from the ground up, from the clients he works with right through to building a name and a brand for himself. Truly inspiring.

Favourite comfort food?

It has to be my mum’s homemade macaroni and cheese. Her recipe can’t top any others that I have had.

Film you have watched more
times than any other?

I am not the biggest film person but I have watched Parasite directed by Bong Joon-ho about three times now and I am never disappointed. So many interesting themes are discussed, all I can say is please watch it.

Song you can’t resist dancing to?

Anything Whitney Houston but particularly How Will I Know. To be honest, anything from the 80s period will give me that feeling.

Event you are most looking forward to in the next 12 months?

The People Like Us events created by Darain Faraz and Sheeraz Gulsher. I am due to go to their next event in November, but I am really excited for them and where this community is going. It’s so nice to have a space and events dedicated to Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic media and comms professionals.
