As Head of Health, UK & Europe at Zeno, Avril has deep expertise in reaching stakeholders to make a difference for patients, communities, healthcare providers and businesses. She has over 20 years’ experience protecting corporate reputations, building health brands for leading companies and bringing creative solutions to business challenges. Avril prides herself on being a health nerd with a love of culture; mixing a Biochemistry BSc, a diploma in film studies, and a thing for ancient history.

Having worked to improve diversity and inclusion in the comms industry for over 10 years, Avril is the Chair of the CIPR’s D&I Network, which published the influential Race in PR report last year. She is also a Trustee of Doctors of the World UK, a charity that campaigns for access to health for disenfranchised communities such as migrants and the homeless.

Favourite campaign of 2021 and why?

Living up to my health nerd status, I think the NHS have done an amazing job at comms during the pandemic communicating at an unprecedented time of uncertainty and risk to the nation and the communities within, as well as managing a huge number of clinical, political and media stakeholders.

Who is your communicator of the year?

Jonathan Van-Tam, of course.

Favourite comfort food?

Noodles

Film you have watched more times than any other?

Thelma and Louise – over 20 times as I had to analyse it for a film studies essay, still love it though!
