Caroline is passionate about equality issues

Caroline Bernard has worked in the non-profit sector for 20 years. She has been Director of Communications at Young Women’s Trust since July 2021, overseeing communications, policy and campaigns, and digital. Previously, Caroline was Head of Policy and Communications at Homeless Link, and has held senior level roles in housing, health, and social care charities. Caroline is passionate about equality issues, and was a trustee of the Ignite network, which worked to promote diversity in the PR sector. Caroline is also a past trustee of the Fawcett Society.

Favourite campaign of 2021 and why?

Related to my previous role, #EveryoneInForGood as this has got a lot of traction in the drive towards ending homelessness and rough sleeping.

Who is your communicator of the year?

Adeela Warley, Chief Executive of @CharityComms as she and her team have done so much to keep comms professionals in our sector motivated and supported these last 18 months.

Person of the year?

Patrick Vernon – he continues to fight for the rights of Windrush survivors and generally is a pillar of the Black community

Favourite comfort food?

Dark chocolate (with red wine!)

Film you have watched more times than any other?

Have never counted but Sister Act is up there!

Song you can’t resist dancing to?

Event you are most looking forward to in the next 12 months?

Hopefully getting away in February to Malta to celebrate an anniversary.
