Favourite campaign of 2021 and why?

There’s been a lot of great campaigns of late but one that is really on brand and creative is Google’s ‘what are you searching for campaign’. I first noticed billboards that searched for things like ‘what is a hijab’, ‘what is the correct pronoun to use’ to ‘what are the best biscuits to buy’. Something that sounds so simple has had a great impact on opening up conversations – from the menial and random to the more thought-provoking questions we might be afraid to ask out loud. It proves just how much we all utilise Google and so positioned the business at the core of all of our thoughts and decisions. It’s simple yet impactful.

Who is your communicator of the year?

Many would agree with me when I say that Marcus Rashford is my best communicator of the year. For someone who is so young and tackling challenges with such bravery – on and off the pitch – he’s a big inspiration to many. His #EndChildFoodPoverty campaign not only showed the lived reality for many families in the UK, but it instigated a much-needed ripple effect that saw businesses, councils, charities and restaurants support him and those in need. We’ve seen a lot of influencers use their social media accounts to publicise charities, but the way Marcus was able to bring a whole nation and businesses together to support his goal proves how great and natural he is as a communicator.

Favourite comfort food?

My favourite comfort food is anything warm and spicy. My go-to would be a chickpea stew but if it’s a cold morning, you’ll probably find me cozied up with a warm bowl of cinnamon porridge.

Person of the year?

My person of the year award would go to my friend Rahma. She first introduced me to the world of PR and more than that, she’s the person I go to for advice or when I need a pick-me-up. We’ve been through it all during university and now as we’re both trying to navigate our working life and careers, we’ve become closer than ever.

Film you have watched more times than any other?

I’ve watched Southpaw a lot. The boxing routine impresses me, and it definitely helps that Jake Gyllenhaal is a sight for sore eyes. All jokes aside, it’s the father-daughter storyline that tugs at my heartstrings every time.

Song you can’t resist dancing to?

This might sound crazy but I don’t listen to music that much. However, if you put on a good song with a nice beat I’ll join in.

Event you are most looking forward to in the next 12 months?

Right now, the moment I’m looking forward to the most is my solo trip to Berlin, Germany. I just came back from a mini holiday and I completely forgot how much I’ve missed travelling, taking pictures and enjoying nature. More specifically, I can’t wait to explore Saxon Switzerland – the views look incredible!
